The first week up in NC Tim took vacation (though worked some in the end taking a few calls here and there) and the second week he worked (though was able to use some of those vacation hours from the previous week not used). Essentially it was going to just be me planting the 74 apple trees (and taking care of James), which included digging the middle trench (we had dug with the help of many the first and third trenches).
Thankfully my I only Monday and Friday on my own. My Dad came Tuesday to help and stayed to work on Wednesday. We got the first and third rows planted- which I think was 48 trees.
We did, of course, take much needed breaks from the hard work to enjoy James- and he in turn enjoyed wheelbarrow rides given by Grandad (James says DanDad).
My dad has had both hips replaced and as well as one shoulder and we sure did give his bionic joints a run for there money!
James was tuckered out as well, and came to love his toddler sized camp chair (we don't have real furniture at the farm yet- just camping chairs and air mattresses). I bought the chair for July 4th and it was too big for him and he pretty much ignored it, but this trip he was so content to have one just his size.
He spent quite a bit of time chillin' in his chair by the Christmas tree after playing hard all day (and watching his new favorite Happy Feet).
