Apple trees part six: An apple orchard

 On Sunday morning Tim planted the last two trees in the front yard by the drive.  The are semi-dwarf Bramley's Seedlings- so should get to 8-10 feet tall.  All the other trees are dwarfs trees and will look more like an vineyard from the way we will trellis and prune them.  So it will be nice to have at least two normal, full apple trees.

 View from the porch of the orchard.  Despite the deer fence being made of black material and 7 feet tall it is amazing how well it blends in.

 All apple trees in their protective cages, blanket of mulch and tops pruned to the correct height.

 Next Spring we will finish wiring the trellis, add the bamboo supports and attach the trees.

 And James irritated by being put in the car and taken away from his fish.  It was past his naptime so he wasn't dealing well with his wishes being ignored.  (Note the magic bean animals all in a line next to him.)

Then about four minutes after pulling away from the house James passed out and took a much needed nap.  

(A huge thanks for helping with the digging, planting and all things apple to: my mom and dad for keeping James the first weekend so Tim and I could work without a toddler underfoot; Sharon and Tonya for digging away their vacations; Sara and Jasper for coming to a birthday party and tacking on hours of dirty work; and Matt for using one of his few days off the restaurant to do manual labor.  We are going to be making a lot of apple pies sometime down the road as thank yous!)
