Also in early December James tried his hand at walking with assistance- the first time I was talking with my brother on skype in the kitchen and notice James zooming past behind me using the step stool as a walker. Unfortunately for him his enthusiasm was squashed a bit by the fact the stool only had 3 wheels which means unless he pushed in exactly the right place it will not go in a straight line.
Thankfully he is able to walk in a straight line on the borrowed 'chomper". At first he'd only go short distances as the speed at which the chomper was capable outpaced his legs. Then he'd go farther and longer (basically until he ran into a piece of furniture or a wall) and then continue on his way crawling. Now he can pretty much maneuver the chomper once it encounters an obstacle.
But soon he won't even need to do that as he started taking his first steps this past weekend. He is VERY wobbley- but can take 2 or 3 steps from standing and holding onto something into your arms. His grin at his accomplishment is wonderful to see.
Hooray for James! Perfect timing- he will be a pro by the time the weather is nice again.
