Sometime in early December James decided to start standing. And fortunately it happened on an evening when both Tim and I were playing with James in his room before bed.
He doesn't choose to stand much even now almost two months later, but is actually quite stable when he decides he really doesn't want to put down both toys. In the beginning his favorite place to stand was in our slippery tub which seemed a bit precarious, but I think the lack of bulky diaper helped him out.
